“Blacksmith Hammered. Rooks Murmured. II”
42′ x 42″ x 1.75″ mixed media on cradled wood panel
Based on my poem “Rooks Murmured”. Our first home was in South County Kilkenny, 5 miles from the city of Waterford. We owned an old forge and a stone cottage which we modernized. It was a beautiful place next to a racehorse farm with a tall stand of trees and the foot of our land. It was occupied by a colony of rooks who never stopped murmuring, squawking, and generally making themselves known. The poem plays on the rooks murmuring and blacksmith hammering.
