“Glory Blooms” – 72″x60″x2″ oil and mixed media on stretch canvas.
I was inspired by my poem Glory Blooms.
It is dedicated to the bravery and courage of the people of Ukraine.
In March of 2022, the weather in Atlanta was unseasonably cold. One morning, the temperature rose by about 30 degrees and the pear trees outside my window bloomed overnight, just burst open. In the background, the news was on about the invasion of Ukraine. At that moment, I was struck by the pear trees venturing the cold snap, the bravery and courage of the Ukrainian people in the face of terror, and the migration of innocent civilians fleeing for their lives amidst cluster and vacuum bombs.
