Imagine – 54″ x 50″ x 2, Oil over mixed media on canvas.
Based on my poem “In dread silence reposes”
When the news broke back in 2020 of 545 children missing while in detention as asylum seekers I was horrified. I could not reconcile the bedrock of American democracy and freedom separating children from parents never mind losing them. The words of Frances Scott Key’s Star-Spangled Banner are used throughout the poem to highlight the hypocrisy of policy then and now.
